A New Beginning
A new chapter in the life of the church at Finley has begun.
You know by now that I like to begin with a question. My question is this- What is vital as you begin this new chapter?
Let us spend a few moments pondering this passage of scripture from Matthew 7:24- "Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock." This passage reminds me of one of my favorite Hymns- "The Solid Rock." It was written by Edward Mote. He shares that in his early years he did not know there was a God. But at age 18 God got his attention and from that moment on he lived Jesus.
He was a cabinet maker by trade and one day he wrote this Hymn on his walk to work. Folks, these powerful words are life changing:
“My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus' blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus' name.
On Christ the solid rock I stand.
All other ground is sinking sand.
All other ground is sinking sand.”
Back to the scripture
Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock (Matthew 7:24)." So, again I ask what is vital in this "New Beginning?" That the Body of Christ plants its feet on the Rock! My friends, our Jesus is the one we must always lean on. May the church keep its feet planted by keeping Christ Jesus at the very center. It is vital! Vital for you-vital for me-and for the Church.
All Because of Jesus,
